I’m a big fat chicken. Seriously.
Also? My bike is well…old. And a mountain bike. And likely “purchased at K-Mart” (so suggests the husband)

But let’s face it. I’m more of a scaredy cat than my cat…who jumps when my husband sneezes.
Things that scurr me?
- Going down hills – I don’t like feeling out of control.
- Crashing – duh. Being injured scares me.
- Cars – see above. Also I think they don’t necessarily respect bikers so…
- Getting hit by a car. See above two.
- Turning. See all of the above.
- Potholes – read all of the above
My brakes on the Huffster (that’s the new name of the bike by the way) are quite loud (but they work) so Hubs learned as we were riding down Ridgely last night that I’m afraid of hills. I mean, I’m getting better and less…scurrrred. I need to focus a little bit more on my biking, not so much the distance, but the confidence as I realize that my tri is like…three weeks away (I should probably put in for my vacation time…) and I need to get my shiz together.
Also, I can’t wait for my new, thinner, hybrid/road tires. Because umm hubs? Cruised on up the hill making it look like nothing meanwhile I’m huffing and puffing and trying to blow up that hill (3 little pigs? anyone? reference?) and he’s going like 15mph and I’m like chugging with all my energy and reserves at like 7mph. Need. A. Road. Bike. We’ll see how the Huffster does with the better tires but I think if tris become my thing, I’ll definitely need a road bike before next Tri season.
Anyhow, I’m super excited to go for a ride this weekend – I think I’m going to take Adam out to Thomas Point and maybe around Quiet Waters, I’d like to do closer to 20 miles and then add a short run for a BRICK workout. We’ll see how early we get up on Saturday though.
Do you have any fears when it comes to endurance sports??
