Top 10 of 2012

by Heidi on December 28, 2012

Boy oh boy, what a busy year! I can’t believe that a. 2012 is almost over. And b. Baby Schmidt is a mere 13 weeks away! Stay tuned for an end of 2nd trimester update – next week kicks off trimester numero tres – eep!!!

But I wanted to recap 2012, as many bloggers are wont to do, and later in the week/next week I’ll hit up the goals for 2013 – there’s not too many but I want to keep them out there to keep myself motivated.

My top 10 moments of 2012? In no particular order…

1. Visiting San Antonio. Not once, but twice. Hubs completed his 68W training for the National Guard out there for four months from January to late April. It was so awesome being there for Adam’s graduation though.

2. Setting a new PR in my half marathon the weekend of my 29th birthday in my hometown! Sub 2:00:00 I’m coming for you in 2013-2014!!!

3. Completing my first triathlon and finishing in UNDER 2 hours (!!) - amazing considering I was just about 6 weeks pregnant at the time!

4. Finally hitting my sub 30 5k – not once, not twice, but THRICE! Seriously – that was awesome and a goal I had been chasing for the past couple of years.

Tiger Trot 5k (which I worked for work, then ran) – 28:11 5k PR

5. Seeing the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center for the holidays with my amazing in laws. By far, one of the greatest gifts ever.

6. Transferring to a new job as a marketing coordinator in Severna Park, MD. Though it was bittersweet to leave LivingSocial, I’m in a great place now.

7. Being nominated to the board of Junior League of Annapolis as VP of Communications. I consider myself incredibly blessed to work with such an amazing and diverse group of women while not just learning more and more about how to run a non-profit but also helping the community.

8. Celebrating the big 29 with amazing friends in our amazing town. Even though hubs wasn’t around (he was still in TX) my friends made it a point to ensure I was loved and that we celebrated my last year of my 20′s in style.

9.  Coaching for Girls on the Run this fall. Coaching those girls made my heart swell twice a week for ten weeks. Can’t wait to coach them again in the future :)

10. Finally, saving the best for last, finding out we were expecting. Baby Schmidt has brought nothing but joy to us and he’s not even on the scene yet but we couldn’t be more happy about his arrival come March. One of these days, I’ll tell the story of how we found out at a Friendly’s in Lake George, NY. It’s quite amusing actually.

While all my goals for 2012 weren’t accomplished, a good number of them were and then some and I’m pleased to be ending my 20′s by making the foray into motherhood. 2012, you were a good year. I’m satisfied with you.

What were your big moments of 2012??
