So a week ago now, Adam, Lexi and I trekked up to Connecticut for a weekend for my baby shower – Lexi is our lucky Godmother to be and was a joy to travel with and show around Adam’s quaint New England home town.
My mother in law did an AMAZING job with the shower which was Sunday afternoon. It took place at the Curtis Inn in Woodbury, CT – one of the oldest inn’s in CT and a long time family favorite. Each of the tables had different themes – like books, legos, circus, and trucks. It was all absolutely adorable and far exceeded what I would have ever expected.
Adam’s godmother brought the cake – fresh from Westchester County – by far one of my favorite parts of the day. It was a delicious cake of chocolate and vanilla cake layers with fresh strawberries and whipped cream frosting. It was…amazing to say the least.
The overall theme of the day was elephants as that’s the theme for our nursery. The table tops had peanuts, and everything tied in from the cake, to the oversized Babar poster (a childhood favorite of Adam’s).
It was also awesome to see my mom and sister – knowing that this trip was the last time we’d see ANY family really, as a family of two and that the next time they all saw us we’d be a trio!
Apparently, a lot of people are anticipating the arrival of our little guy – we were definitely showered with lots of love – I am so very thankful for all the wonderful and amazing people we’re surrounded by in our lives.
I could go on about my favorite gifts but I don’t think I had one favorite – all of them were amazing and baby Schmidt is already spoiled rotten. At the end of all the unwrapping and cake deliciousness, the men-folk made an appearance. I think hubs was just as overwhelmed by all the love from our family and friends as I was.
All in all, a perfect day/weekend/#tripnorth – many thanks and lots of love to all of those who were involved in planning, and execution! I am so grateful for all of the amazing people in our life!
