Exciting week this week, well not really, not other than the fact that I’ve slept like butt for the past two nights, being awake between 3a-5:30a both nights for anywhere from 20-120 minutes. Last night was better, I got up to pee, and it took me about twenty minutes to get back to sleep around 5a. The night before? Hellish. I woke up at 2:30 and did not fall back asleep until close to 5a. Not fun friends. Not fun.
How I’m feeling…butt. Like butt. Really. I just feel big and uncomfortable and exhausted this week (read above with problems sleeping). Baby’s kicking up a storm, and at one point earlier this week I thought he was going to go all Twilight baby and kick his way out of the womb. Alas, I am not a vampire (thank goodness!) nor is Adam (again, thank goodness) so baby Schmidt is just moving and groovin’ his way around my tiny little torso and taking up way too much room. Pretty sure there’s just no room at the inn. How do I still have 7 weeks left?!
Baby is…the size of a pineapple! He weighs between 4.2-5.8 lbs (I think he’s a bit on the smaller side like his mama – though as a baby, I was pretty average size when I was born). Baby now has his eyes open when he’s awake, his bones are getting harder, and he’s starting to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. And of course, more brain development. He’s becoming quite the smart baby!
Baby stuff bought…nothing this past week, this weekend I’m hoping to get everything we have organized so we can make our final countdown list of baby stuff we still need to purchase (i.e. bassinet sheets that we don’t have yet for the hand me down bassinet we received recently ).
I’m still… wearing 95% maternity clothes excepting what I’m wearing above (Gap crew neck shirt one size up and . I still have my wedding rings on. I’m peeing every 2 hours (tmi?) which is really mostly annoying at night. No stretch marks (yet). Baby is still a boy (why do people put “gender…” in their pregnancy updates after the first time they announce it? I mean…the gender isn’t going to change right?) He’s kicking up a storm like a freakin’ soccer player sooo… yeah. There’s that. Happy 33 weeks to me?
Looking forward to…Northeastern being in the Beanpot finals Monday! We might be heading up to Baltimore Monday night to watch the game. Unless I decide I’m too flipping tired and end up watching it on my laptop (likely). Officially kicking off my maternity leave on March 15 (so soon!) and not just maternity leave but post-maternity leave I’ll be either staying at home with baby Schmidt or embarking on new and exciting opportunities…that I haven’t found yet. But I will be looking…(eventually)! I’ll indulge more on that decision later. Three words: Childcare is (damned) expensive (okay that was four but whatever). It was a tough decision but one that Adam and I are both happy with (at least for now?)
