Marathon Training Day 1

Next week is technically week 1. So says my Runners World training plan.

I decided to just sort of throw myself into it and called up a friend to go to the gym. I decided since it was already 8:30p to keep it simple.

30 minute run – i did a 10:30 pace for much of it – which is about where I want to be for the marathon. In 30 minutes I ran about 2.8 miles. I could have ran an extra 3 minutes to finish up that last quarter of a mile but I just didn’t feel like it. I loathe running on treadmills but considering DC was amidst an ice storm, it was a last resort type thing.

I went home and did about 10 minutes of yoga on the wii-fit, something I want to start doing more of as a sort of cross training.

I’m going to try to do some strength training at home when I get home which will mean no drinking for me at the WaPo bridal expo I’m going to tonight, but that’s okay.

2.8 mi/30:00/~5.7 pace on treadmill

When is your marathon? I’ve got twelve weeks of running coming up starting Monday as well. Sounds like your ten miler is the same day as my Nashville half. Maybe some day we should get together to run. Or just support each other along the way.
