It’s week five.
I’m still at 142, which I guess I can’t complain about since I didn’t gain, but I’m worried about my ability to lose weight, worried about my inability to run fast…
Though this weekend I did run the GW Parkway 10 miler with a time goal of sub 2 hours. I finished in 1:58:30 which I am beyond pleased about (God bless those chip times! Clock time read 2:01:07 which would have been mad disappointing).
So we spent Thursday night through Saturday evening in CT, I fell behind on the 100 pushup challenge so I’m going to do the second week over again.
I plan on getting in a five mile interval run tonight, yesterday I did an abs class that I taught. The marathon is in less than a month, I bought my plane tickets up to Burlington so I’ll be spending 7 days in Vermont. I only hope that someone comes out to see me race, I couldn’t stand the thought of running 26.2 miles with no one there since Fiance isn’t coming up with me (too expensive to board the dogs unfortunately).
So not much progress but at least I didn’t gain. Go me?
Week 1: 141
Week 2: n/a
Week 3: 142
Week 4: 142.5
Week 5: 142
Goal: 130 by 9/11/09 – 12lbs left thats four pounds/month. or 1 lb per week.
This week, I’m working on eating better, eating dinner earlier, and more running. Aside from Gold Cup on Saturday I have a 3 hour run on my agenda for sunday. Instead of focusing on mileage, I’m focusing on my 5 milers during the week (sticking mostly to intervals to work on speed), and strength training (focusing on balancing and arms for the wedding) and then my long runs on the weekends are more time than distance. Next weekend I’ll be doing a four hour run and then a week of tapering. It’s all about the cardio baby!
I really haven’t trained for this, I’m a little bit nervous but as long as I focus on running these last few weeks, I know I’ll finsh. I’ll work on my time for Philadelphia in November.

Congrats on your 10 miler! I so admire runners. Question: Is there really a runners high?
I stand up and applaud you for training for a marathon. It sounds so stringent and HARD! Way to go!!! If I was anywhere near Vermont, I’d be there to cheer you on at the finish line. Maybe someone else from the Sisterhood lives nearby?
I know it’s frustrating to see the scale stay the same. My advice is to make sure you getting enough calories in on the days you have long runs.
Good luck this week!
you are a machine!!
not sure how you’re eating, but Christy is right. even on my puny runs (3 miles) I’ve noticed that if I don’t eat an extra 150-200 calories then my body doesn’t lose like i want.
The whole weight loss thing aside, WOW way to go on the running. That takes a lot! Good luck on the upcoming week.
Whoa, training for a marathon? You rock! But it sounds like you’re doing just fine! You can definitely meet your 130 goal by then!
Also, Brooke is right, I don’t know how you are eating, but with all of that training, make sure you’re getting the right amount of calories!
Good luck this week!
