I’m a day late on my update post on the Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans.
I’ve lost…half a pound. So I’m still half a pound away from where I was.
However! I’ve been totally kicking butt and taking names with my workouts which is really what matters.
Monday – Pilates, 30 minutes weights
Tuesday – 5 mi Run – 54:24 (~11:00/mile)
Wednesdsay – 4 mile tempo run (800m warm up@ 12:30/mi, 800 m @ 9:31/mile, 1200m @ 11:30/mile, 800 @9:31/mi, 1200m @11:30/mi, 800@9:31/mi, 800 cool down @12:30/mi) completed in 43:00 10:45/mi)
Also!!! I’m on Week 2/Day 2 of the 100 Pushup Challenge…yesterday? My max pushups – 14. I’m totally getting there. And my arms are feeling it!
Today, I have another 5 mile run on the agenda with some more weight training. I’m focusing more on balance exercises per a friend of mine who trains at the gym. Last night – one of the new workouts I did was a squat on a bosu ball with bicep curls – turn the bosu ball upside down so you’re balancing on the flat side (ball side down) hold hand weights (i used 4lb weights) bring arms into a bicep curl as you squat so that your thighs are paralell to the floor while holding your balance.
It’s not nearly as easy as it sounds but I squatted out 3 sets of 10. Way far off from the 5 sets of 20 that the trainer friend suggested. Ack!
I’m one month and one day from the marathon. I haven’t really trained…but this weekend, I have the GW Parkway ten miler which I’m using more as a training run (though I am trying to finish it in under 2 hours). For Hartford, I ran 10 miles in 2:09 so I think I can do it. I’m trying to do more tempo runs during the week to work on my speed (which trainer friend said will help), and instead of set long runs of “x miles” over the next few weeks I’ll be doing timed runs – 2 hours this weekend, next weekend I’ll run for 3 hours and the weekend after in CT I’ll run for 4 hours and then 2 1/2 the weekend after and then the marathon. So I’m avoiding a “real taper” in the taper sense, but this marathon really snuck up on me. With me being so worried about money since my layoff, it’s been the last thing on my mind despite all the time I’ve had.
On the other hand, I’ve started working at the gym again! So yay for my free gym membership. I’m totally going to have AMAZING arms for my wedding gown, and I will be beach babe fabulous for our honeymoon in Puerto Rico!
