It’s week three of the Shrink into Summer with the Sisterhood challenge. I missed last week – it was a bit of a whirlwind with coming back from CT. Sorry. I bet it wasn’t much worse than this week though.
I’ve gained.
Birthday, going away for a funeral.
I am ashamed. However. It’s not nearly as bad as I initially thought it would be.
And, today I got my part time job back at the gym down the street so I’ll totally be working out. Because really when it comes to watching Gilmore Girls or going for a run in the rain…well…two cuddly puppies make my decision quite easy. Even if I’m kicking myself later.
I’m still running the 10 miler next weekend. I’m still running the marathon. Oh. Em. Gee. It’s been six months since I’ve raced and I’m a little nervous just because I haven’t trained nearly as well as I should be. I tried to dedicate myself but too much came up – getting laid off, then being in CT for a week for a funeral…it was just…tough.
I’m excited to get started. I ran 3 miles today and did 30 minutes of weights focusing on my arms – since my wedding gown is strapless I need to make sure my arms – before anything else really – look stunning in my gown. Then, I need to make sure I look pretty in a bathing suit since we booked our honeymoon to Puerto Rico. Eeep!
Today as I said, I ran 3 miles. Three was supposed to be five but after 30 minutes the treadmill just didn’t want me to run on it anymore and started the cool down. I managed to finish my last interval (i did 1mi w/u (12:30), .5 miles fast (10:00/mile), 1 mile (12:15/mile) and then the last .5 mile at (9:45/mile). I had planned to do two more miles, but instead I just kind of stopped and did 30 mins of weights. I’ll do the fiver tomorrow. At least the few times I’ve ran in the past few months I’ve been doing speed workouts. However, since I have a little more than a month till race day, and a week and a half till the first race day well…I should get on this whole running thing. Next weekend I have a ten miler race -I’ll run 2.5 miles warm up and 2.5 cool down on sunday and then the ten miler makes for 15 – the weekend after I’ll do 18 and then 20 the weekend after followed by a two and a half week taper. Talk about speed training. As long as I get in the tempo runs/interval runs then I’m good.
Goals for the rest of this week:
Tomorrow: 5 mile run
Friday: 3 miler
Saturday AM: 14 miler
total mileage: 25 miles
Additionally this week I totally have a reward for myself! My pal M (who totally gets up at 5am every week to run – she was 2nd overall women in the Turkey Trot I ran at Thanksgiving…she? Is awesome.) and I are giving ourselves late birthday presents of 50 minute massages.

Loss/Gain: +1.5
Goal for next week: lose 2.5 lbs. Pending I don’t entirely overstuff myself with the remains from birthday (FYI i just finished my last piece of ice cream cake and sent the Lemon Tart off to Fiance’s office so that shouldn’t be too doable)
Overall Goal: 125ish by 9/12/09

You have no reason to be ashamed! Disappointed, maybe, but ashamed, no! We all have those weeks, and you just have to pick yourself up, dust off, and keep trying!
Sounds like you have a very rigorous workout week scheduled! Good luck with all your running!!
How does your body do it? If I went from running 3-5 to 14 my body would shut off in the middle. I’m very impressed.
Don’t get too down, it was your birthday! You’re allowed to take time off shrinking for your birthday!! Sounds like you have a solid work out plan there! Keep up the good work!
