Weekly Weigh In…

April 15, 2009

It’s week three of the Shrink into Summer with the Sisterhood challenge. I missed last week – it was a bit of a whirlwind with coming back from CT. Sorry. I bet it wasn’t much worse than this week though.
I’ve gained.
Birthday, going away for a funeral.
I am ashamed. However. It’s not nearly as bad as [...]

5 miler #1

March 11, 2009

Finally got around to running last night. I could tell the Shred video has been helping me – though I definitely think I started out too fast.
My nike+ is shot. I tried it for the first time with my ipod Touch – if anyone has any advice how to calibrate these things – a friend [...]

30 Day Shred – a Review

March 9, 2009

I’ve been MIA – battling a sinus infection, the onset of allergies. I’m a little more than 2 months away from Marathon #1 of this year and less than a month from registering for two big races – the Philadelphia Marathon and the Army 10 miler.
Have I ran? No. Whoops?
I also still haven’t gotten plane [...]

Back in Business

February 17, 2009

I’m back.
Two weeks I’ve been out of commission. It started with a bad case of the sniffles. Aches, I stayed home two weeks ago sick.
It was getting better, thank you Mucinex and decongestant.
Then Friday night into Saturday more aches, a fever, and by Sunday I couldn’t breathe out of my nose.
Sinus infection.
So for the past [...]

Detox – a messy ending

January 29, 2009

So I kind of killed my first detox diet. I’m not good at the dieting, nevermind the fact that this was my first time. It wasn’t bad but Fiancé teased me with some cheese Tuesday night as I cooked dinner. Yesterday morning I put the first nail in the coffin when I had a blueberry [...]

Marathon Training Day 1

January 28, 2009

Next week is technically week 1. So says my Runners World training plan.
I decided to just sort of throw myself into it and called up a friend to go to the gym. I decided since it was already 8:30p to keep it simple.
30 minute run – i did a 10:30 pace for much of it [...]

Getting ready…

January 27, 2009

I’ve been thinking about how I want to train this year for Burlington. I want to train harder than the previous two marathons – you see I trained better for Hartford than I did for Marine Corps but I trained for longer with Marine Corps than I did for Hartford. I need a happy medium.
But [...]

Detox Day 1

January 26, 2009

Day 1. Complete. Finishing up with some herbal tea (not sure if Irish Breakfast with a dash of lemon is herbal but it’s good enough for me)
For breakfast I had a banana, a glass of water and a clementine when I got to work.
I had some blueberries and blackberries as a midmorning snack.
Around 1230 I [...]

A Five Day Detox Diet…

January 26, 2009

I made a resolution at the beginning of the year to do a Detox once per month. Initially, I had planned to do this right after the New Year began but well….I didn’t.
So this upcoming week, I’m doing my first detox. It’s something I’d like to do once/month at least between now and the wedding [...]

Mix It Up

January 12, 2009

With my running scheduled to start up in two weeks on January 26th, (an 8k in March, 10 miler in April and marathon in May and November) I need tunes. Since I canceled my gym membership, I’ll be running more outside than in and I am absolutely an ipod runner. I don’t get the people [...]

The Non-Track Practice

January 8, 2009

I’m not equipped to run in the rain. I told myself this as I woke up yesterday morning, feeling guilty about the preceding decision to skip the first track practice. It was pouring out and the temperature was hovering in the mid thirties. When I left work, it was raining even harder and the temperature [...]

Wii Fit v. Gym Membership

January 5, 2009

I’ve seen a lot of people tweeting over the decision to cancel gym memberships because of wii fit.
Personally, I plan on doing just that today.
You see, my gym membership is great. In theory. I get an okay discount from my office and if I go 9 times per month I get reimbursed $50 which makes [...]

Week 1

January 4, 2009

On my “personal blog” I have a task – a resolution if you will – to read 52 books in 2009. I have about 15 or so on my bookshelf that are unread, and 11 more from my book club throughout this year, and of course the Jane Austen Collection.

Book #1 was “The Amazing Adventures [...]

Resolutions

January 1, 2009

I started my year by falling asleep around 12:30.
I had high hopes to run the Resolution 5k put on by the DC Road Runners this morning out on the Mount Vernon Trail unfortunately, the four drinks I had last night over the course of 7 hours got to my head and I woke up at [...]
